Geri became a partner with Nicholson, Dasenbrock & Hartley, LC, in 2012. She practices both in and out of the courtroom on a daily basis. In addition to her criminal defense work, Geri’s litigious practice areas include adoptions, children in need of care, estates, guardianships, trusts and their administration, and other probate matters. Transaction legal work done includes drafting of wills or trusts, powers of attorney, or tax advice.

She is skilled in the area of long range and tax planning for companies, organizations, and individuals. Geri drafts wills, trusts, incorporation documents, contracts, and tax exemption applications. She also reviews and researches the tax consequences of client's actions and advises clients on the most efficient and effective financial planning tools available. Clients find her specialized knowledge of tax law and pension law helpful in creating their five, 10, and 15 year plans. Whether she is preparing yearly tax returns or drafting a final will, Geri enjoys interacting with clients and working with the community to achieve their financial goals.

Geri's previous legal experience includes work at the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services reviewing complaints, drafting memos and notices, and hearing preparation for cases of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. At the Kansas Court of Tax Appeals, Geri reviewed and analyzed tax exemption applications while working closely with court judges on tax cases ranging from small claims to million dollar state contracts. She has a variety of tax experience, including tax law research and franchise support for a Fortune 500 company, preparing returns for individuals, working with nonprofit and 501(c) organizations, and directing the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. Prior to law school, Geri and her husband owned a cellular phone store franchise where she experienced entrepreneurship at its best.

Geri previously served on the Lawrence Civic Choir board, the Miami County Bar Association board, and directs the Miami County V.I.T.A. Program.
